Welcome to the NBRU. The union was founded in 1963 by a small group of drivers in Clontarf garage, Dublin, who were dissatisfied with existing representation. Today we represent 3,700 drivers, inspectors and operative grades in all three CIE companies, Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann and Iarnrod Eireann.

As the only Irish union totally dedicated to interests of transport workers we have been at the forefront of the struggle to improve pay and conditions in the sector. We have also campaigned to promote public transport as the most economically efficient and environmentally friendly means of coping with traffic gridlock.
