A 5 day working week for bus drivers becomes a reality due to the efforts of the NBU.

RAIL WORKERS JOIN THE UNION
Rail workers join the Union. The NBU is changed to the National Bus & Rail Union.

AUTO FARE INTRODUCED
Auto fare introduced after a campaign by the NBRU to protect drivers after some serious assaults on bus workers.

A dispute over pay leads to the NBRU winning a 20% pay rise for bus workers.
The NBRU leads the way in achieving 5/7 working and significant pay increases for rail workers.

The NBRU see off attempts by Seamus Brennan to privatise 25% of the bus network.

The NBRU lead the fight against privatisation of 10% of Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann by the NTA.
The NBRU ensure rail workers will be represented when the future of the rail network is being discussed.
